Lorraine Motel

The Lorraine Motel, once the Lorraine Hotel, was a popular African American owned business in the 1950s and 1960s for traveling celebrity and influential African Americans, including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Musicians including Ray Charles, Lionel Hampton, Aretha Franklin, Ethel Waters, Otis Redding, the Staple Singers and Wilson Pickett who were recording for Stax Records stayed at the Lorraine.

On April 4, 1968, the civil rights leader was assassinated on the balcony of the Lorraine, just outside of his room. By purchasing and sporting our “Lorraine” products, you commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. King and a safe haven for all.
